This week we welcome Dr. Ellie Farahmand Pourbaba as she discusses the importance of maintaining proper oral health, and the connection between oral health and overall health. As a cosmetic dentist working at a private practice in Santa Monica, California, she utilizes her decades of experience to teach on the risks associated with gum disease, including the potential of strokes, pregnancy complications, Alzheimer’s, and more. The mouth serves as a mirror to the body, reflecting on our overall health, so creating the right dental routine, which includes regular cleanings with your dental hygenist, as well as proper at-home care, can prevent the buildup of bacteria in the mouth that if left untreated, can lead to more serious health conditions. As a leader within our community, a founding memberĀ of the Parent Advisory Board of Pediatric Surgery at Cedars Sinai Hospital, and a board member at Sinai Temple, Ellie is inspiring us to stay connected through our health, and by practicing self-care.
